MIFT research and best practices for Sustainable Fashion

Do you know that 10% of the total CO2 emission is produced by textile & fashion industry which is causing global warming and climate change.
From 1914 Mahatma Gandhi promoting sustainability, he has only 2 own hand made dresses at any given point of time and that too made of natural fiber Khadi (cotton). In 2018 global warming and climate change has become burning issue.

Sustainable fashion is a part of MIFT day by day business philosophy and MIFT implement sustainability in each and every field. The basic process of which is to form a standard procedure which can be supported indefinitely in terms of human impact on environment and emphasize the community accountability and social responsibility. MIFT Research & Development is taking center stage on the sustainability runway, and made fashion products 100% sustainable using following 5 strategies

Waste of a Garment Factory

1. Optimization of Garment Construction Process

Off-cuts, large seams and hems all produce avoidable wastage in fabric and pattern cutting process. Design optimization can reduce waste and improve sustainability. Be selective about your manufacturing process; ensure that designers understand ecosystem and use energy efficiently. Additionally work place facility specification is also important such as machine power rating, using less water and chemicals.

2. MIFT Promote 3R - Reduce Reuse Recycle

MIFT provide buy-back opportunity and when customer has finished with the garment, MIFT buy it back to produce something else. Additionally MIFT give discount on next purchase if buyer donates the older original garment of MIFT brand.

3. MIFT promote use of natural and organic Fabrics

Silk, Jute, Organic cotton, Khadi, naturally processed wools, and natural dyes, all this can help in sustainability. MIFT is producing Khadi Denim which is 100% organic. Organic production, recycled fibres, Natural fibres, and job lot end of run fabrics all relate to sustainability.

4. MIFT produce Classics and Long Lasting Fashion Items

MIFT promote a timeless classic fashion with natural fabrics. MIFT educate buyers that materials used can be recycled and thus buyers hold garment for longer time period more. MIFT educate customer about production and manufacturing processes and its advantage in sustainability.

5. MIFT Research and Development invest a lot in innovation

Sustainability is the property of biological systems to remain diverse and productive indefinitely. How Carbon Fiber can help here ? The atomic arrangement of carbon fiber is comparable to that of graphite, consisting of sheets of carbon atoms arranged in a customary hexagonal pattern (Graphene sheets), the difference being in the way these sheets interlock one another. Carbon fibers are fibers about 5–10 micro meter in diameter and composed mostly of carbon atoms. Carbon fibers have numerous advantages including high stiffness, high tensile strength, low weight, high chemical resistance, high temperature tolerance and low thermal expansion. Carbon fibre appears and feels like artificial fur. The carbon fibres are wonderful and different from all other fiber. Woven form of carbon fibre comes in huge rolls - like fabric - and is compacted together to create the light bodies of fashion costumes.
